Las Vegas 2008

Well we have been back for about 3 weeks so its about time to blog about our vacation.

We (me, Hubby and Turkey) left the house at about 4:30am on Wed. Oct. 15th. Boy, was that
E-A-R-L-Y. We got to the airport, got all checked in then went and got some breakfast. We actually got there with the perfect amount of time to get everything done that we needed to and not feel rushed. The flight was uneventful. Then we got to Denver and had a 3 hour layover! URGH! Child and layover don't mix AT ALL, but I would rather have one that is too long than not long enough. AND, our gate was WAY on the other end of the airport. Isn't that the way it always goes though? We ended up eating lunch at Auntie Ann's in the airport and just hung around. While we were wandering around the airport aimlessly caring the carry on, camera, and Hubby's laptop we decided that we DEFINITELY needed to get a rolling carry on.

We got to Las Vegas on time and all in tact luggage and all. Then we went to get the rental car place to get all that done. We went to eat at Weinerschnitzel, somewhere we don't have here, and enjoyed hot dogs in pretzel buns....UMMMMM!!! We went to check into our hotel, Circus Circus, where Hubby kindly asked the lady at the desk if we could possibly have a room that was pretty high up since we had Turkey with us and it was her first time to Vegas. She upgraded our room and made sure we were on the TOP floor. The room was SO nice I could hardly believe it. Flat Screen TV, nice beds and furniture, and awesome carpet and bedding.

After we got everything to the room we decided to go the outlet mall down the way to look for new tennis shoes and a new watch for me. We did bring shoes but we thought we could all use new ones anyway. We didn't find shoes but Turkey got a really cute Las Vegas shirt with bling and all on it. I found a 1 1/4tsp cookie scoop too. I had been wanting one of those to make little cookies with no luck. I was pretty stoked to find it. Hubby didn't find anything he was interested in so we left and went to check some of the stuff at the hotel. We went and saw a circus act which was actually some guys that had been on America's Got Talent. It was way cool. After that we went and played the ring toss game where you try to get the ring on the bottle. Hubby ended up winning me a a 1g iPod shuffle!! Sweet!!! We went to eat at the buffet at the hotel, which was actually pretty good, then headed down to Fremont Street AKA The Old Strip. We wondered around down there for a bit and saw some motorcycles riding in the cage. It was pretty awesome! I think there was 4 of the in there at once. We also saw some pretty neat bands. Then we watched the light show on the awning above which played a little show and played Born to Be Wild and then went back to the hotel to go to sleep.

Thursday we got up and went downstairs to get Krispy Kreme. We then went to Target to look for a video game Hubby wanted and to get a rolling carry on. We found both and at reasonable prices too. Gotta love that. We came across another mall with a Dillard's that was going out of business so Hubby ended up with 5 new shirts. Then, we went to Hard Rock Cafe to eat lunch, which was very overpriced for that it was. Turkey got a necklace instead of a shirt since he already got the Las Vegas one. We went down to the opposite end of the strip from where we were staying and checked out the Bellagio Water Show. SPECTACULAR it was!!! We caught the end of one and watched another from the beginning. Then we made our way to M&M world where we watched the 3D movie, I Lost My M in Vegas. I was pretty cute. It was about Red betting his M in Roulette then loosing it. It was very Vegas to say the least. We spent 2+ hours there. Turkey got a bag of the colored M&M and I opted for just buying the regular bags since they were MUCH less expensive. We also made it to the Coke store where we got Mello Yellow. We hadn't had that in a LONG time so it was a nice surprise to find it. By then we were tired and ready to got back to the hotel. We went and ate at Mexitalia. It was pretty good. Then we went and saw another Circus Show. Turkey would have just spent the entire time watching that if she could have.

Friday we went to IHop for breakfast and then headed out to the Hoover Dam. We figured it was educational for Turkey and it was something Hubby and I hadn't seen yet so it was new for the family. We learned some pretty cool things about it, like no one is buried in the concrete. Turkey got a neat little box with her name on it and a charm that said Hoover Dam and Las Vegas. We also got her teacher a Hoover Dam "Snow Globe" which actually had no water and had sand for the snow. Pretty cute. After we left, we went to the Plazzio and the Venetian. Turkey thought they were both really pretty and actually told me the other morning that the sky outside looked just like the ceiling in the Venetian. Cutie she is. We wandered on down to the Puma store and checked out the Sketcher store too. We didn't buy anything but its fun to look. When we were done there we went to the Luxor to pick up our tickets for Criss Angel BeLIEve then headed back to the hotel to get ready and to grab some dinner at the Westside Deli. We got to the show and wandered through the gift shop. Turkey got a shirt and Hubby got a Shot Glass. The show was AMAZING!!! But let me say this, if you are looking for a Magic Show this IS NOT it. There was some magic yes, but it was more of a play than a magic show. It was supposed to give you insight into who Criss Angel really is and not him just being a "Mindfreak". Turkey and I really enjoyed it while Hubby wasn't all that impressed. He liked it because we liked it. If your are thinking about going to see it go with an open mind. That's all I am going to say. After the show we went back to the hotel and saw yet another Circus Show. Then we went to bed.

Saturday we had these grand plans (at least I did) of getting up reasonably early getting some breakfast then heading to the Bellagio to see the conservatory and the water show one more time. The only thing that we did accomplish was getting some breakfast. That's fine though, it will give us something to look forward to next time. After breakfast we went to take Turkey's pic by the Welcome to Las Vegas sign and to return the car. We got to the airport only to find out that our flight was delayed an hour and 10 minutes!!! We could have stopped after all!!! Well, we got on the plane and to Denver with me freaking out that we were going to miss our connection. Luckily the connecting flight was also delayed. On the flight from Denver to here I got a migraine!!! URGH!!!! Couldn't have been all the stress from the flights or anything right? Needless to say we arrived back safe and sound with everything in tact. I don't think we even forgot anything at the hotel:) The dogs were just fine with my dad coming over to feed them and let them in and out. I was kind of worried about them being home by themselves. They were very excited to see us again and we were excited to see them too.

I asked Turkey what her favorite part was and she said, "Criss Angel and then M&M World" and her favorite Hotel was the Venetian. I would have to agree with her.

Sorry for rambling, but the blog is also sorta my journal too. Hope I got everything. I will try to post pics too. They are all on Hubby's computer.

We all really enjoyed ourselves. We (Hubby and I) are SO ready to go back. I really LOVE it there. Completely different from our everyday life here. I liked it much better this time compared to last time. I think because it was almost familiar. I actually wanted/want to go back for my birthday in February but will probably just settle with going for our Anniversary in Sept. again. Not totally out of the question except for the babysitter part. We won't be taking her back for a while, like until she's a teenager. Hmmmmm......Any volunteers?
